A model already tested
Digi Friend grows out of a model that has been tested in practice. In summer 2025, a high school in Vietnam used the curriculum framework of Phuong Lien Hoang (AgeTech for Vietnam) to run a community project for its high-school students: an intergenerational digital literacy program, with volunteer training and expert guidance.
Before and after
How it worked
In their words
"I'm no longer afraid to touch my phone. Now I can send photos to my children myself."A learner, Vietnam
"I can look up the bus route from home to [the hospital]. I feel more confident getting around without asking my neighbors."A learner, Vietnam
Lessons learned
Small, patient groups
Hands-on practice with patient guidance is what builds confidence.
Young volunteers
They give both technical help and encouragement.
Fewer skills, more practice
Repeating a few core skills works better than covering many topics.
